How Awakening Works
Clover Legends awakening upgrades the grimoire you are developing after you meet its book-level and resource requirements. Clover Legends awakening is separate from rolling a new book: the official description says it raises the level cap and improves damage and critical performance. Open the grimoire's Awaken tab to work toward the next stage of that book.
The official game description identifies gathered materials and Spell Pages from bosses as awakening resources. Obey's September 14 walkthrough at 1:06 shows a five-stage interface labeled I through V. The selected book, its current level, the next requirements, and the proposed bonuses appear together.
That layout answers the main question when an upgrade is unavailable: are you short on book level, an ingredient, currency, or more than one requirement? Solving only the most obvious shortage may leave the other gate unchanged.
The book matters. A Plant recipe shown in a video is not automatically the recipe for Light, Dark, or Poison. Use a demonstrated recipe to understand the system, then gather toward the selected book's actual next stage.
Read the Awakening Screen in the Right Order
A Clover Legends awakening attempt should begin with the book identity, not the button at the bottom. Confirm the grimoire you intend to develop, read its level and cap, then look at the stage row and the next requirements.

In Obey's example, Plant is Book Level 46 out of 50. Stages I through IV are complete, while V requires Level 50. The screen also shows several material shortages. Reaching Level 50 would solve the level gate, but it would not fill those missing ingredients.
This is why character level is the wrong shortcut. A character can be highly developed while a newly equipped book remains below an awakening milestone. The relevant value is the level printed on the book panel.
Book Level 10 and Book Level 20 are also important for ordinary spell unlocks, according to the official description. Awakening and spell progression are related parts of developing a grimoire, but they are not reasons to spin another copy just to unlock those normal spells.
CHALLS performs an awakening around 6:12 in his September 15 walkthrough. That gives a second useful view of the operation: he opens the grimoire panel, uses Awaken, and returns to ordinary progression. The roll tab is a different action beside it.
Materials, Currency, and a Real Next-Stage Example
Clover Legends awakening becomes easier to budget when you turn the requirement panel into a shortage list. A displayed fraction describes what the account has and what the next upgrade requires. It is not a drop rate or a recommendation to stockpile that amount for every book.
Obey's Plant IV-to-V example contains the following clearly readable entries:

These selected rows belong to the Plant IV-to-V upgrade. Subtracting the held amount from the required amount gives a shopping or gathering target. For example, collecting another 154 Green Herbs would complete that row while leaving the Honeycomb, Spirit Moss, and other requirements to finish.
The same panel shows ordinary currency as another requirement. Keep currency in the budget even when herbs are the largest visible shortage. Spending the entire balance on optional purchases can leave a recipe incomplete after you finally gather its ingredients.
Materials can come from more than one activity. Obey's chest explanation at 2:23 shows resources entering inventory, while his Materials shop segment at 3:47 shows stock that can be purchased with ordinary currency. The shop also displays a restock timer and out-of-stock items.
Do not confuse similar names. The shop frame contains Honey, while the Plant awakening example asks for Honeycomb. Those are not interchangeable merely because both refer to bees. Buy the exact ingredient named by your requirement, not the first similar-looking icon.
The official description also points players toward bosses for Spell Pages. Keep Spell Pages separate from ordinary herbs when planning your next session. Follow the page requirement attached to the upgrade you are making, and combine boss attempts with other progression only when the fight is manageable.
For Clover Legends awakening, the best shopping trip is targeted. Gather what you can through your current progression, then consider buying an affordable missing item that is actually in stock. A purchase that completes an attainable upgrade is more concrete than buying every material simply because it might become useful later.
What the Upgrade Gives You and When to Commit
The official promise is directional: higher level cap, stronger damage, and improved critical performance. A particular preview gives the concrete values for that selected upgrade. Do not turn one book's example into a universal table.

The critical-chance preview moves from 18% to 20%, a gain of 2 percentage points. Critical damage moves by 6 percentage points. Read those changes alongside the damage bonus when deciding whether this upgrade is worth prioritizing. A familiar enemy makes it easier to notice the practical difference after the upgrade.
Clover Legends awakening is usually easiest to evaluate against a book you already enjoy using. If its attacks fit your ordinary quests, the next attainable improvement has a clear purpose. If you are about to change books because the handling does not suit you, pause before committing resources to the old one.

A practical session can combine objectives. Choose a quest you can finish reliably, continue book leveling, open earned chests, and collect relevant resources along the route. Then return to the requirement panel with a shorter list. Stop to reassess once the book reaches its level gate. At that point, your remaining work may be a small material shortage rather than another long leveling session.
Avoid buying an unrelated upgrade to solve an awakening problem. Race rerolls change a different part of your character. Grimoire spins seek a different book. Forge purchases can compete for resources. Each may be useful, but none should be mistaken for the missing item on the current awakening recipe.
Before committing, use a short checklist:
- The selected grimoire is the one you intend to develop.
- Its book level meets the next stage's condition.
- Every required resource is available, including currency.
- The previewed improvement supports your next combat goal.
After the upgrade, return to a familiar encounter. Notice whether the new cap allows further book progression and whether the fight feels more manageable. Compare ordinary results rather than expecting a critical hit every time. Use Clover Legends awakening alongside the movement and attack timing that already help you finish the encounter safely.

How many Clover Legends awakening stages are there?
The September interface shown by Obey has five stages, I through V. His Plant example has the first four complete and Level 50 required for the fifth. Use the selected book's next-stage requirement to choose your own leveling target.
Why is Awaken unavailable even though I have materials?
You may still be below the required book level, short on ordinary currency, or missing another ingredient. Read all requirements together. Character level and a partial material stock do not demonstrate that the complete recipe is ready.
